Obesity Ads in Georgia Go Too Far

So there are ads about child obesity that are claimed to "go too far". The striking images of overweight kids looking sad on billboards are said to hurt the kids they are trying to protect rather than help them. Some slogans on these billboards are "Chubby kids may not outlive their parents,"  or "Big bones didn't make me this way. Big meals did." I could see how this could upset some kids. This case got brought all the way to the White House and they are deciding whether they should continue to use these ads. What do you think?

  1. Wow-this is a great topic!!!

I feel that as long as the kids and parents involved in the campaign know the slogans/images that will be used, it's acceptable. It's their choice to make such a strong statement for the good of the cause.

This IS a big problem (no pun intended) and I think a "wake up call" is good. I think this campaign will be effective.

  2. well...this is a tough case...because I would hate to think that these signs are hurting people's feelings...but the true fact of the matter is that obesity is killing kids and other people all over america every single day and it's a huge huge issue. So may be these billbourds really getting to people is actually a good thing.

  3. I think they should just get different adds that are more about helping these kids and not making them feel depressed about themselves.

  4. I think that obsediey is like a major concern in America these days with all the fat that is fast food and everything else that is good to eat. But in some cases the parents are to blame for the fat kids because they spoil their children
